Depending on the circles you travel in, you might have heard people talking about ditching their relational database management systems (RDBMS) and moving on to working with a different class of data stores… something they call “NoSQL”. The first time I’ve heard of it was a few years ago (I don’t remember exactly when or how) and, although it seemed like a relevant and an interesting concept, it wasn’t interesting enough for me to free some time to dig deeper. It all changed five months ago after I “bumped” into an unexpected and a very interesting opinion (more about that shortly).

This blog entry came to my attention from reading a lambda group post by Ronen Narkis, and this was my reply:

"

Few days ago I twitted this: "ok, i admit. #Scala actually sucks..."

I didn't read the blog yet (I will though) but if I have to sum up what I think about Scala in one short sentence then it would be: "Yet another lab creation". Exactly like the early version of EJB. It's obvious that it isn't a community driven development. It has nothing to do with developer convenience nor pleasure. It feels like it was created for pure academic purpose. I have tons of other stuff to say about Scala but I don't want to wear you guys out...

Enthusiasm is overrated. Developers who get religious with their programming language is something I can’t understand... Religion, you know, blinds people...

an interesting post about why we choose to go with one programming language/ecosystem and why we should try to think different...

The new YUI Library (v 3.4) has a new cool website with some cool examples.

One of the examples that caught my attention is a "Todo List" built with JS MVC design pattern style.

I enjoyed the example very much - and I encourage to dive into that and learn the concept through a live working example.

source code is included.

This month’s issue, it the first issue in a series of “javascript digests”.
These digests will explore the very new and popular frameworks, discovers, articles, libraries, the important tips & tricks and the new API’s releases in the world of javascript for each month.
The issues will also include news about HTML5 & CSS3 and related examples and articles.

The idea of the digest is to give a small insight and focal point for few interesting subjects that were gathered during the month. In that way, you’ll have a starting digest point for the next month.
