RIA

A while ago when JavaFX released its first version I wrote a little Blog about it.

Today I was looking for some good news about JavaFX, but still it looks like after releasing version 1.2 JavaFX is a  disappointment. It will take some time until it'll be ready for heavy duty enterprise applications.
RIA framework are sprouting everywhere... why should we wait for JavaFX to be ready?
I don't see why, do you?

My purpose is to play several tracks one after the other.

What are my options?

The Java RIA Framework

Jspresso is an innovative framework for building rich internet applications. Jspresso dramatically reduces the development cycles needed to get your corporate application up and running while not sacrificing quality, robustness and performance. Jspresso is not just another webapp framework. Jspresso based applications offer the exact same ergonomics as desktop applications while keeping an N-tier, server-centric architecture on a java backend. Jspresso-based applications can be deployed either in Adobe's Flex, Ajax (WingS), ULC and Swing, all on the same codebase and without a single specific line of GUI code. And last but not least, Jspresso is free.

Last year I ( The article author of course, not me :) wrote three chapters about the Cairngorm MVC framework for a new Flex book, Professional Flex 3, published by Wrox Press. Cairngorm has been widely adopted on enterprise projects, so it was important to explain its workings and cover the best practices and common pitfalls. If you’re a developer who moves between clients and projects, this is important knowledge to have. However, with more time and pages, I’d have liked to devote similar attention to the other Flex frameworks now available...

TIBCO has made its General Interface open source and it is now available for download.

This comes just weeks after Adobe brought its AIR tool to Linux, and less than two months after Ariba took its AribaWeb open source and Sun called its JavaFX the fastest growing RIA tool in the market.
