Web Frameworks

Hi,

I invite you to disscuss that topic , please provide you input and comments.

My questions:

1.

Why java is relatively outsider in matters of small-businesses and e-commerce?

Except historical reasons, what reasons would you list?

2.

What conditions should we have(endorse) to bring java more closely to e-commerce?

I mean both: technological and business ideas and conditions.

3.

Where are the STRONG sides of java in e-commerce in comparison to PHP, .Net, etc?

4.

What good java e-commerce applications, solutions would you recommend?

5.

What bad examples of java and e-commerce, that you experienced? Please, elaborate.

6. Say whatever you think matters.

Thanks a lot!!!

Hi

I'm doing little research about user management - login & profiling

The use: some web browser plug-ins that the user need to login, and can edit it's own profile.

If you have some experience or good framework... your knowledge will be welcome. (I'm open to any framework/language)

Recently I had the chance to see how deep the rabbit-hole goes when it comes to JavaScript.
Since my project should not involve any JavaScript thirdparties. I had to be creative
and sometimes yeah you're not going to believe it, I even had to google about it.
When we are talking about JavaScript the pain is even bigger because we have to be able to write
a cross browser code. In that point almost any average sane developer will pull out his best colorful
nose hairs.
I'm not going to cover the entire JavaScript language - this is not the case, I'm not writing a book.
I'm just going to put on the table some areas which are not trivial to the common JavaScript developer.

Agenda:

  •    Intro

  •    Data Object

  •    Function Constructor

I have tried to launch the Flex profiler on a web application and it was a bit annoying to find out the following:

- For some reason it yelled about my browser tabs being enabled. It probably related to FireFox browser but I'm not so sure, even tough my default browser was the IE. I then moved to work with Flex Profiling workspace, on the main menu I have used the Profile menu item -> Profile External Application -> Launch the application manually... It then will connect to the profiler as soon as you load your Flex application.

- I compiled my application to work with RSL and I got another error about using a none debug version. Compiling my Application to work with RSL instead of the Merged Into Code option made the debug information to be excluded.

As every one probably knows Flash Scope would be very useful feature in every modern web framework. It allows us to use POST/Redirect/GET design pattern which solves a lot of issues associated with handling of page Multiple submits or resubmission data to browsers.

This is truly working... If you need to test your application at various browsers, now you can use Spoon Browser Sandbox.

With no Installation or special preparations you can run almost any available browser.

The big con I can see is, well of course big no for Linux.

I have tested it for a while looks like it really works.
