JBoss jBPM is a flexible, extensible workflow management system. jBPM combines easy development of workflow-applications with excellent enterprise application integration (EAI) capabilities. it includes a web-application and a scheduler and can be used in the simplest environment like an ant task and scale up to a clustered J2EE application.
The jBPM enables the creation of a workflow management system that bridges the gap between managers and developers by giving them a common language: the JBoss jBPM Process definition language (jPdl).
This article is an introduction and hopefully will help you start using JBPM easily and fast enough. As a first step you can take a look at this reference jbpm reference guide

This HowTo describes a way to integrate Seam, Spring and jBPM in order to use the same Hibernate SessionFactory in both Spring and jBPM (and of course, Seam).

Business Process Management(BPM) and Flow Management Systems have become critical to large organizations over the past several years. Somewhat similar to the OOP paradigm, Process Oriented Programming aims to define and differentiate between different scopes of changes, mainly by defining the Business Process, a key construct widely used in a new language common to both analysts and software designers. JBoss jBPM is a flexible, extensible framework for process languages implementing Flow Management Systems principals. During the technical session, we'll briefly go over Flow Management Systems and take a plunge in JBoss's implementation currently at version 3.2, that includes a Standalone/Web runtime, a full-featured graphical designer, and other supporting tools and technologies.
