ELIPS Studio 3 is a plug-in for Adobe Flex Builder,  which allows Flex to go mobile!

Can't wait to test it...

Anyone knows about alternatives?

Twilio provides infrastructure APIs for businesses to build scalable, reliable voice and text messaging applications. Using Twilio you can:
·      Make and receive phone calls - build applications that use the phone network to interact with people on landlines and cell phones all over the world. In just a few lines of code, you'll have phones ringing

I came across a great open source library today called Eskimo.  Eskimo contains Flex Controls that are coded to behave like native controls on various mobile platforms like iOS and Android.

Eskimo is: An open source Flex mobile library providing native control patterns to your apps on multiple mobile platforms.

Feel free to download the library over at Eskimo's website.  It is currently available as a SWC since it is still in beta testing but,  a september release of the code is planned.

I saw an ad for a famous US consulting & training company, & went in to check their courses schedule. I was sure it will be mainly Java & J2EE courses & maybe some .Net & Flex.

This is what I found:

Some Python & Django, a little Ruby, but almost all Mobile - iPhone, iPad & Android.

We'd better get ready for this trend, before it will be too late..

A blog post on the role of pixel density when developing mobile apps.

Whereas in the past user interface design would largely be concerned with screen size or display resolution only, now the question of how many pixels make up one inch becomes relevant as well. This measure is called pixel density, and expressed in dpi or ppi values. Nowhere is pixel density as broadly distributed as in the mobile world. A low-end android mobile may have a 180 dpi screen, while a high-end one, like the retina display, will boast up to a 326 dpi screen.

My purpose is to play several tracks one after the other.

What are my options?

Some web applications require interaction with mobile devices. A key ingredient when writing such application for mobile devices is figuring out which device "talks" with our server, serve it with best fit markup, and make correct business-logic decisions (i.e. send the correct video format, setup package, etc.)

There are several tools that help us to cope with these challenges, all of them are built on top of a database (mostly XML files) which contains a mapping between devices and User Agents.

Since Ittay post about Appcelerator (and I thought to myself, another web framework)

It has been growing and there's a lot of buzz around it especially in the Mobile development area.

Here are some of it:
