Gendarme is a extensible rule-based tool to find problems in .NET applications and libraries. Gendarme inspects programs and libraries that contain code in ECMA CIL format (Mono and .NET) and looks for common problems with the code, problems that compiler do not typically check or have not historically checked.

I ran this tool against my IZWebFileManager. The result was 1213 potential defects using 254 rules!:

Red Gate has announced that it will charge $35 for version 7 of .NET Reflector upon its release in early March. Version 7 will be sold as a perpetual license, with no time bomb or forced updates.

Scott Guthrie has announced the beta of Microsoft WebMatrix, a new free web development tool designed to streamline and simplify web development.

 

"The 15MB download includes a lightweight development tool, IIS Express, SQL Compact Edition, and a set of ASP.NET extensions that enable you to build standalone ASP.NET Pages using the new Razor syntax, as well as a set of easy to use database and HTML helpers for performing common web-tasks.  WebMatrix can be installed side-by-side with Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Web Developer 2010 Express."

Last week Mono released first beta for the upcoming MonoTools2.

 

There are four main features in MonoTools 2: 

  • Soft debugger support.
  • Faster transfer of your program to the deployment system.
  • Support for Visual Studio 2010 in addition to 2008.
  • Polish, polish and more polish.

Git becomes a very popular version control system.

In the same time windows users looking for visual clients to work with.

 

One of such tool is Git Extensions:

Adobe has recently published the Flex ecosystem - a list of products and projects which provide support for the Flex framework in various categories.

It's a very usefull list.

 

I do miss some products I used along the way such as:

Clear Toolkit, degrafa, fxSpy, ServiceCapture

 

And mentioning the various explorers mentioned here.
