Developing a Flex On Java application with Spring Roo

Introduction

In recent years, conventional Java and other traditional software development methods are challenged by new development platforms. Ruby, Grails, Django and other platforms introduce a faster and simpler approach for Software development. The current Global recession only made these new methods more popular, in today's enterprise world, companies are looking for ways to cut development costs and are questing traditional methodologies.

 

About Spring Roo

Spring Roo tries to answer these new challenges, it's a Rapid Application Development platform that is running on top of Java. Using a code generation mechanism, Roo lets you create, test and deploy Java applications that are built with Spring and Hibernate. Roo Flex Addon adds the ability to create Flex UIs along with Java server applications.

In the session we will create, test and deploy a Flex On Java application using the Roo and Roo Flex addon

 

About Roo Flex Addon

Roo Flex Addon brings the power of Roo to Flex. The addon works in conjunction with Roo and auto creates Flex 4 screens for each Java entity, the screen are already wired and configured (using BlazeDS) with the Roo Java application.

 

Session Agenda

We will work in small teams or as individuals and develop from scratch A Flex On Java application enabling the following technologies using Roo:

 

  • Spring DI
  • Hibernate
  • JPA
  • Spring Security
  • log4j
  • BlazeDS
  • Flex 4

 

Key Challenges and Objectives

  • Design an application and implement it using Roo.
  • Integrate various Java libraries in your application using Roo.
  • Code with Roo in the background and see how it can help you.
  • Learn how Flex 4 layout features can help you make better looking Roo Flex screens

 I could find only the spring roo under the download page.

Can anyone post urls to download spring-flex and the old sts-2.3.2.

I am using version 2.5.1, but Lior asked for exact version numbers...

Haim, it's there, I don't think we can host the software on the tikalk website, I'll make sure we all install it on the 23
