GWT - Is it the future of web programming?

This question came to my mind when I saw (finally after couple of days waiting for my Wave account to be ready) the new Google Wave web 2.0 application which is written using GWT technology. I have to say that I'm impressed. I haven't got the chance to fully estimate functionality, but it's definitely a sexy RIA application. Will it give us the missing piece we have always looked for and finally we can say that GWT has a real father (Google)?

You can safely expect GWT to answer Google needs...

i was say that Wave, does, is the future of the Web. e.g after some (short) period of time will be hard to imagine web without wave. is wave api coupled with gwt? i asked google -- google said "yes". at least gadget api. try it and tell me.

Google Wave's transport protocol was defined so others can implement it in whichever way they like. There's already an independent implementation at http://pygowave.net/

thanx. too much for me. what will use 8(16?) mln java programmers over the world to work with Wave? -- GWT.

I can remember a long time ago thinking and struggling, should I waste couple of hrs of my precious time and play a bit with GWT? At the time I didn't think it was a good idea. This time it feels differently, I might give it a try - ( Oh thank you Arik :)
